Strep Testing
A streptococcus infection can cause acute rheumatic fever, which may cause problems with the heart or kidneys. A rapid strep test can quickly determine whether a child's sore throat is caused by a strep infection vs. other germs (usually a virus) that don't require antibiotics.

Urinanalysis
Urinalysis is a valuable tool in the diagnosis of kidney disease and other illnesses. We look at the combination of blood and protein in the urine to evaluate the risk of significant kidney disease.

Hemoglobin Tests
Children should get routine blood tests. Low levels of hemoglobin indicate that your child may have a low red blood cell count (anemia). Most types of anemia can be identified and treated.

Scoliosis screening
Scoliosis screening is a short, noninvasive test performed by our trained child's pediatrician, to determine if your child's spine may have a curve that would need to be examined by a pediatric orthopedic specialist.

TB screening
The TB skin test is performed by injecting a small amount of fluid (called tuberculin) into the skin on the lower part of the arm. A person given the tuberculin skin test must return within 48 to 72 hours to have a trained health care worker at our pediatric center to look for a reaction on the arm.

Diabetes screening
Diabetes is tested by using a blood glucose test. Normally, a blood sample is taken from your vein and sent to a pathology lab for analysis. There are different types of blood tests. You may be asked to fast overnight beforehand (fasting blood glucose test) or you may not need to prepare.

Cholesterol Screening
A complete cholesterol test is done to determine whether your cholesterol is high and to estimate your risk of heart attacks and other forms of heart disease and diseases of the blood vessels.

Vitamin D Testing
Our pediatrician can order a blood test to measure your levels of vitamin D. There are two types of tests that might be ordered, but the most common is the 25-hydroxyvitamin D, known as 25(OH)D for short. For the blood test, our pediatrician will use a needle to take blood from a vein.
